Non-Profit Director
The Non-Profit Advisor provides experienced guidance to the Board, drawing on previous board or senior leadership experience to help strengthen governance, strategy, and long-term impact. This role is advisory in nature and focuses on perspective, mentorship, and sound decision-making rather than day-to-day operations.
This position is ideal for someone who has “been there before” and wants to contribute insight in a meaningful, manageable way.

Key responsibilities include:

Advising the Board on governance, best practices, and strategic decisions

Offering perspective based on prior board or non-profit experience

Supporting alignment with the Foundation’s mission, values, and legal obligations
-
Acting as a sounding board for the Executive Director and Board leadership
​
Strategic & organizational support:

Contributing insight to strategic planning and organizational growth

Helping the Board think ahead, identify risks, and spot opportunities
-
Mentoring Board Members as needed and supporting overall Board effectiveness
Community & foundation support:
-
Serving as an ambassador for the Foundation within the Sea to Sky Corridor

Helping build credibility and connections with community partners

Supporting fundraising and sustainability conversations as appropriate

As the Foundation grows, this role may also:

Participate in short-term committees or special initiatives

Support Board development and succession planning
-
Provide guidance during periods of growth or transition
​
Experience & skills (helpful, not required to check every box):
-
Previous board, advisory, or senior non-profit leadership experience
-
Strong strategic thinking and governance awareness
-
Collaborative, thoughtful communication style
-
Commitment to the Foundation’s mission of supporting children and families after the loss of a parent
Time & commitment:
-
Volunteer role with flexible involvement
-
Estimated 2–5 hours per month

Participation in fundraisers and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Term:

Two-year term, with the option to renew
