Technical/Web Director

A key leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, maintenance, and strategic growth of the Amazing Kids Foundation's digital presence, including our website and the creation of an online resource for families navigating the loss of a parent. This position is ideal for a tech-savvy professional with experience in website management.

Key Responsibilities

​

Website Management & Digital Strategy

  • Oversee the Foundation’s website, ensuring it remains functional, user-friendly, and up to date.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance website performance, accessibility, and security.

  • Collaborate with team members to integrate new digital tools and features as needed.

Online Resource Development

  • Lead the planning and execution of the Foundation’s online resource hub for parents and guardians.

  • Work with stakeholders to define key content areas, ensuring the resource provides step-by-step guidance on crucial next steps for families, such as:

    • Understanding government benefits (e.g., CPP claims).

    • Administrative processes (e.g., obtaining death certificates).

    • Emotional and financial support services.

  • Obtain vendor quotes and coordinate the phased development of the resource, ensuring sustainable growth and enhanced privacy protections over time if applicable.

Project Oversight & Coordination

  • Develop a phased project plan, aligning with available funding. (with Executive Director)

  • Manage external web developers, content creators, and other technical service providers as needed.

  • Ensure all digital projects align with best practices in security, accessibility, and usability.

 

Potential Future Responsibilities with Growth

As the online resource expands and additional funding is secured, the Technical Director may also:

  • Enhance data privacy protections, ensuring secure handling of sensitive information, donations etc.

  • Implement user feedback and analytics to improve the effectiveness of the resource.

  • Develop additional content areas based on emerging needs of the families served.

  • Explore new digital tools to expand accessibility and engagement, such as multilingual support or interactive features.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in website development, IT project management, or digital content strategy.

  • Strong understanding of website platforms (e.g., WordPress, Wix, or similar CMS). Currently in WIX but this is flexible to change as we grow.

  • Ability to manage third-party vendors, obtain quotes, and oversee phased project execution.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Time Commitment

  • This is a volunteer position with flexible hours, estimated at 2-5 hours per month (plus attendance at fundraisers and the mandatory yearly AGM.)

  • The role may evolve as the project expands and additional funding is secured.

​

Term of Office

Two years with the possibility of renewal for the second term.
